CUDA Course

The 60 hours course of CUDA programming will be offered by our lab in
the spring semester of the 2008/2009 academic year.
The course is open, but the number of places is limited by the capacity
of our laboratory.
The minimal requirement for admission is a good working knowledge of
C/C++ programming language.

GPU - a future of scientific computations?

Dr Witold Rudnicki delivered a seminar “GPU - a future of scientific
computations?” at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry in Poznan.
He discussed the possibility of applying modern graphic processors in
scientific computations and presented recent developments of our group
in this area, including applications to Monte Carlo Dynamics and
sequence alignment.

Polish Bioinformatical Society

First Conention of the Polish Bioinformatical Society was held in
Jadwisin on October 3-5, 2008 in conjunction with a bioinformatical
workshop for PhD students. Three members of our groups presented their
contribution to our research. Łukasz Ligowski has presented our
massively parallel implementation of the Monte Carlo molecular dynamics
code developed for the NVIDIA GPU platform, Sławomir Walkowiak has
presented development of the approximate search engine for textual
databases and Miron Kursa has presented analysis of the aptamer
sequences with the Boruta algorithm for finding important attributes in
the information system.

FOCUS Awards for Ginalski and Trylska

We are pleased to inform that Dr Krzysztof Ginalski and Dr Joanna Trylska have been awarded with a prestigious grants from Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) within the FOCUS program. These three year grants are devoted for creation of the independent research group for outstanding young investigators more. In 2007 FNP awarded 4 grants for research in computational biology. Dr Ginalski was awarded the grant for the research program “Sequence-structure classification of large functional classes of enzymes, detection of novel families and identification of their members in human genome” and Dr Trylska for the research program “Internal dynamics, aggregation and diffusion in macromolecular complexes”.
